'Kids For Cash' Judge Asks 3rd Circ. To Revisit Convictions

Law360, San Diego (July 10, 2013, 1:33 PM EDT) -- One of two Pennsylvania judges convicted in the state's notorious "kids for cash" scandal on Tuesday asked the Third Circuit to rehear his appeal, claiming that a three-judge panel had ignored arguments that a jury had not been properly informed of the statute of limitations.

In a petition, Mark Ciavarella Jr. requested both a panel and en banc rehearing because the panel, in its May opinion dismissing his appeal, did not consider his arguments with regard to three counts of racketeering, racketeering conspiracy and money laundering...
