Atty Denied New Trial In RI Town Council Kickback Case

Law360, Chicago (July 10, 2013, 7:28 PM EDT) -- A federal judge on Tuesday rejected a Rhode Island attorney’s bid for a new trial on charges that he acted as a middleman in a kickback scheme orchestrated by three North Providence Town Council members.

Robert S. Ciresi, who was sentenced to more than five years in prison in 2011, failed to show that he had unearthed any new evidence to help his cause, according to an order signed by U.S. District Judge Mary M. Lisi.
