Temple-Inland Pays $13.5M To Settle La. Spill Suit

Law360, New York (July 10, 2013, 7:00 PM EDT) -- A Louisiana federal judge on Wednesday approved a $13.5 million settlement between a subsidiary of Temple-Inland Inc. and a class of citizens allegedly harmed by an August 2011 spill of black liquor fluid from the company's paper mill into a river.

Under the agreement, TIN Inc. will dole out a total of $9 million to three subclasses of plaintiffs and set up a $4.5 million settlement administration fund to cover the expenses associated with administering the settlement funds.
