Power Grid Co. Settles EEOC Postpartum Disability Suit

Law360, New York (July 12, 2013, 1:36 PM EDT) -- An Indiana-based power grid operator has settled the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission's lawsuit accusing the company of disability discrimination for firing an employee who suffered from postpartum depression rather than granting her leave, the agency said Thursday.

U.S. District Judge William T. Lawrence signed off on a consent decree on Tuesday between the EEOC and Midcontinent Independent Transmission System Operator Inc., formerly named Midwest Independent Transmission System Operator Inc., in which the company agreed to pay $90,500 to settle the disability discrimination suit.
