Chevron Beats Pa. Fracking Water Storage Challenge

Law360, Philadelphia (July 15, 2013, 2:28 PM EDT) -- Chevron U.S.A. Inc.’s lease with a Fayette County, Pa., landowner permits the energy giant to construct an 11-acre freshwater impoundment as part of its efforts to drill for natural gas on the property, the Pennsylvania Superior Court ruled on Friday.

A three-judge panel found that Paul and Carol Humberston’s 2006 lease with Chevron gave the company leave to pursue any means it deemed reasonably appropriate to develop the gas deposits below the surface of the 111-acre property, including the construction of any related structures or facilities....
