House Lawmaker Floats Restrictions On Private Drone Use

Law360, New York (July 15, 2013, 5:07 PM EDT) -- A House Democrat said Friday that he will soon introduce legislation that would require companies seeking to use drones to detail their data collection and use methods before being allowed to operate the technology, marking the latest effort to regulate the increasingly popular unmanned aircraft's use.

During an event in his home state, Rep. Peter Welch, D-Vt., said that he will propose legislation in the U.S. House of Representatives when he returns to Washington this week in order to address privacy and transparency concerns raised by the growing prevalence of domestic drones, which will soon be available to commercial as well...
