Donziger Can't Halt $19B Chevron RICO Suit

Law360, New York (July 17, 2013, 3:21 PM EDT) -- The New York judge overseeing Chevron Corp.’s racketeering suit over a $19 billion Amazon pollution judgment rejected defendant Steven Donziger’s bid for a three-month stay on Tuesday, saying Donziger's attorneys were only allowed to withdraw under a guarantee the move would not disrupt the litigation.

Donzinger, who is currently representing himself, sought to pause the suit while he obtained new counsel or prepared to try the case on his own. His previous representatives, Keker & Van Nest LLP, withdrew from the suit in May after Donziger...
