John Crane Ordered To Pay Asbestos Victim $15.3M

Law360, New York (January 31, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- A jury has awarded $15.3 million to a man who claims that he contracted mesothelioma after working with asbestos-containing rope every day for five years.

The Maryland state court jury on Wednesday ordered John Crane Inc., which produced the rope, to pay George Linkus Sr., 73, $15.3 million in damages after he was diagnosed with malignant mesothelioma, a cancer of the lungs that is often linked to asbestos exposure.
