Security Concerns Tie Judge's Hands In McAfee Bid Protest

Law360, Chicago (July 17, 2013, 6:50 PM EDT) -- A federal judge on Wednesday agreed with McAfee Inc. that it had been improperly shut out of the bidding on a U.S. Air Force contract for firewall software that was set aside exclusively for a rival, but refused to block the contract on national security grounds.

Judge Charles F. Lettow issued an opinion in the U.S. Court of Federal Claims siding in principle with McAfee on its bid protest concerning a contract for a next-generation firewall, which was offered without competition to Palo Alto Networks Inc....
