Brazil Probes Steel Co. Over Abuse Of Market Dominance

Law360, New York (July 18, 2013, 6:07 PM EDT) -- Brazil's antitrust watchdog launched an investigation Wednesday into claims that Aperam Inox South America SA might be taking unfair advantage of its stranglehold over the country's stainless steel manufacturing to thwart imports and rivals.

The Administrative Council for Economic Defense, known as CADE, said it had opened administrative proceedings against the company after receiving complaints that Aperam, a unit of a metals company headquartered in Luxembourg, was abusing its dominance over the Brazilian stainless steel manufacturing market.
