Illumina Seeks To Overturn $115M Award In Patent Row

Law360, Los Angeles (July 18, 2013, 4:13 PM EDT) -- Illumina Inc. told a Washington federal judge on Wednesday that a federal jury mistakenly found that it had infringed a patent covering DNA technology, resulting in a $115 million damages award to competitor Syntrix Biosystems Inc.

Illumina’s motion for judgment as a matter of law comes just one month after U.S. District Judge Benjamin H. Settle added to Syntrix’s $115 million win, finding the company was entitled to an 8 percent royalty for ongoing infringement.
