Defendants In NY Politician Bribery Case To Fight Charges

Law360, New York (July 19, 2013, 6:23 PM EDT) -- Defendants in a bribery case centered on New York state Democrat Eric A. Stevenson intend to mount an extensive pretrial challenge to the charges, the defense in the case said Friday.

Lawyers for Stevenson, a state assemblyman, and alleged co-conspirators expect to bring multiple motions to whittle down prosecutors’ case, including a motion to exclude testimony of a cooperating witness, defense lawyer Kenneth J. Kaplan of Kaplan & Katzberg said at a conference in Manhattan before U.S. District Judge William H. Pauley III.
