AIG's Greenberg To Avoid Criminal Charges

Law360, New York (November 26, 2005, 12:00 AM EST) -- New York state Attorney General Eliot L. Spitzer will not seek criminal charges against Maurice R. "Hank" Greenberg, the former head of insurance giant American International Group Inc., his office has confirmed.

Spitzer’s office decided as early as in May not pursue criminal charges against Greenberg, but Greenberg could face new civil allegations stemming from stock trades made at the end of his tenure at the insurance company, according to Spitzer spokesman Darren Dopp.
