Cisco Inks $2.7B Deal For Cybersecurity Pro Sourcefire

Law360, New York (July 23, 2013, 12:25 PM EDT) -- Cisco Systems Inc. said Tuesday that it will buy cybersecurity provider Sourcefire Inc. for $2.7 billion, an addition that will boost the California company's efforts to build up its security offerings amid increasingly complex threats. 

The deal follows several recent acquisitions by Cisco, a strategy the company touts as part of its efforts to grow across various information technology platforms. With Sourcefire, Cisco hopes to tackle emerging cybersecurity issues as mobility and reliance on cloud technology creates new avenues for intrusion, the companies said.
