China Hikes Duties On Japanese Synthetic Rubber Imports

Law360, New York (July 26, 2013, 3:36 PM EDT) -- China's Ministry of Commerce announced Friday that it will more than double the anti-dumping duty on imports of chloroprene rubber from a Japanese manufacturer after receiving complaints from domestic producers, according to media reports.

Effective immediately, China will asses a duty of 20.8 percent on imports of the material, known popularly by the trade name Neoprene, from Japanese company Denki Kagaku Kogyo Kabushiki Kaisha, Dow Jones and Chinese state-run news agency Xinhua reported. The material had previously been subject to a 9.8 percent duty.
