Autotrader Beats Tech Licensing Suit In Pa. Appeals Court

Law360, New York (July 26, 2013, 7:10 PM EDT) -- The Pennsylvania Superior Court on Thursday ruled that a lawsuit against Autotrader.com accusing the company of improperly licensing an Internet application designed to determine a vehicle's trade-in value should be tossed out, upholding a trial court decision.

While BuyFigure.com said that its former CEO Robert Hollenshead, a co-defendant in the suit, violated an agreement giving the company ownership of all technology he developed during his tenure, the appeals court found that a Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas judge did not err when she reconsidered an order by a previous judge in the case who had rejected Hollenshead's motion for summary judgment....
