AmEx Prevails In “My Life. My Card.” Trademark Suit

Law360, New York (February 5, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- The “My Life. My Card.” ad campaign for American Express, which has featured celebrities such as Robert De Niro and Kate Winslet, can continue unimpeded, now that a federal appeals court has rejected a trademark challenge to the slogan.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit upheld on Monday a lower court ruling against corporate consultant Stephen G. Goetz, who claimed that he had proposed the slogan to American Express before the campaign began in 2004.
