2nd Circ. Rejects Strict Liability For DMV Data Brokers

Law360, New York (July 31, 2013, 4:59 PM EDT) -- The Second Circuit on Wednesday ruled that companies that sell information gleaned from DMV records cannot be held strictly liable for a purchaser's subsequent actions, but held that companies must uphold a certain standard of care in evaluating statutory disclosure exceptions.
