Digitech Camera Patent Claims Ruled Invalid

Law360, Los Angeles (July 31, 2013, 8:35 PM EDT) -- A California federal judge on Wednesday declared invalid all asserted claims in Digitech Image Technologies LLC's patent infringement suits against Fujifilm Corp., Konica Minolta Holdings Inc. and two other Japanese camera companies over a digital camera patent, saying the claims are unpatentable. 

U.S. District Judge Otis D. Wright granted a motion for summary judgment of invalidity filed on behalf of Fujifilm, Konica Minolta, Sigma Corp. and Pentax Ricoh Imaging Co. Ltd., declaring the asserted claims in Digitech's U.S. Patent No. 6,128,415 invalid on the grounds the claims don't fall into any patentable categories.
