Oracle Ad Referred To FTC Over IBM Comparison

Law360, Chicago (August 5, 2013, 3:59 PM EDT) -- An advertising industry self-regulator said Thursday it had referred an Oracle Corp. advertisement comparing one of its servers with an IBM product to the Federal Trade Commission, saying the comparison was too broad and that Oracle had failed to comply with the self-regulator's prior warnings.

The National Advertising Division, an investigative unit of the advertising industry's self-regulatory system administered by the Council of Better Business Bureaus, found that Oracle made overbroad and unsupported comparisons between its products and IBM's in three separate ad campaigns last year....
