Former Texas Lawmaker Gets Four Years For Bribing Judge

Law360, Houston (August 2, 2013, 7:39 PM EDT) -- A Texas federal judge on Friday slapped a disbarred lawyer who served seven terms in the state legislature with a four-year prison sentence for paying bribes to disgraced state judge Abel Corral Limas for favorable rulings in a personal injury case.

U.S. District Judge Andew Hanen handed down a 47-month sentence to Jose “Jim” Solis, who pleaded guilty in 2011 to paying Limas to influence a case involving a fatal helicopter crash that later settled for $14 million.
