Inadvertent E-Mail Led To Scoop On Lilly Deal: Report

Law360, New York (February 6, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- An accidental e-mail to a New York Times reporter, meant for an attorney bearing the same last name, gave the newspaper the scoop on an impending $1 billion peace deal between Eli Lilly and Co. and the federal government, a news report has claimed.

Times journalist Alex Berenson broke the news of the negotiations after receiving an e-mail message from an Eli Lilly attorney at Pepper Hamilton LLP that was actually meant for Bradford Berenson, a co-counsel at Sidley Austin LLP, Conde Nast's Portfolio.com reported on...
