9th Circ. Orders Lloyd's To Fork Over Atty Fees To Doctor

Law360, Los Angeles (August 5, 2013, 6:33 PM EDT) -- The Ninth Circuit on Monday reversed a denial of interest and attorneys’ fees to a Nevada cardiologist who was awarded more than $6 million after suing certain Lloyd’s of London underwriters for their refusal to honor the doctor’s disability policy.

In December 2010, the U.S. Supreme Court turned down a challenge by Lloyd’s underwriters to a $6.4 million arbitration award that the Ninth Circuit reinstated for cardiologist Zev Lagstein. The high court denied certiorari for Lloyd’s after the Ninth Circuit returned the $6 million award to...
