Co. Retooled, Resold GoPhones Abroad: AT&T Suit

Law360 (February 6, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- AT&T Mobility LLC has launched a trademark infringement suit against a Dallas-based company that it claims is involved in a fraudulent scheme to resell its pay-as-you-go phones after hacking into the software.

AT&T, the largest mobile carrier in the United States, accuses Wireless Exclusive USA LLC was hacking into its GoPhones so that they work on other wireless networks and then reselling them in violation of AT&T’s trademarks. The Atlanta-based company’s GoPhone system allows customers to prepay for services on specially manufactured wireless phones.
