Attys' Fee War Accelerates Between Firms In $1B Toyota Deal

Law360, Chicago (August 6, 2013, 7:23 PM EDT) -- Several law firms asked a California federal court Monday to award them $8.25 million in attorneys' fees and reduce the class counsel fee award by roughly $87 million in Toyota Motor Corp.'s $1.1 billion settlement of claims stemming from its recall of vehicles that suffered sudden unintended acceleration.

Attorneys including Ben Barnow of Barnow and Associates PC and Richard L. Coffman of The Coffman Law Firm argued that their representation of a group of objectors to the settlement secured more than $330 million in additional value...
