School Sues AIG Units For Refusing To Cover Abuse Claim

Law360, Los Angeles (August 6, 2013, 10:14 PM EDT) -- Bronx-based Horace Mann School on Tuesday sued three American International Group Inc. units for breaching their insurance contracts by refusing to defend the school against sex abuse claims that arose after the publication of a magazine article detailing abuse allegations by former Horace Mann students.

In a complaint filed Tuesday in New York state court, Horace Mann said Granite State Insurance Co., New Hampshire Insurance Co. and the two companies' claims administrator, Chartis Inc., owe the school $1.05 million for settlement money it paid to resolve sex...
