US Sugar Loses Appeal Over Rock Mining Permit

Law360, New York (August 7, 2013, 5:16 PM EDT) -- A Florida appeals court ruled Wednesday that U.S. Sugar Corp. cannot conduct rock mining in an agricultural portion of the Everglades because the company's plans don't comply with Palm Beach County regulations.

Wednesday's decision upholds a ruling from the Circuit Court for the 15th Judicial Circuit that struck a development order allowing U.S. Sugar to mine on its property within the agricultural production future land use area in Palm Beach County, which is land in the greater Everglades area that's been drained for agricultural use....
