Philly Ordered To Pay $6M To Firefighters' Health Care Fund

Law360, New York (August 8, 2013, 1:22 PM EDT) -- A Pennsylvania state judge on Wednesday ordered the city of Philadelphia to pay $6.2 million into the health care fund of the union representing the city’s firefighters in a long-running dispute over an arbitration award granted to the union.

While Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas Judge Idee Fox did not obligate the city to implement the union’s demand for wage increases that were also part of the 2010 award, she did tell the city to begin making increased payments per firefighter into the health fund, along...
