NJ Gov. Signs Bill Banning Release of Gun Owner Info

Law360, New York (August 8, 2013, 10:33 PM EDT) -- New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie on Thursday signed a law banning public access to gun owners’ personal information, backing a legislative effort to protect the privacy of gun owners inspired by a scandal borne out of a New York newspaper’s publication of gun license information.

The bill, A-3788, was sponsored by Republican Assemblymen David Rible and Ronald Dancer and was introduced in February’s meeting of the General Assembly’s Law and Public Safety Committee.
