Indian, Thai Steel Rods May Have Hurt US Industry, ITC Says

Law360, New York (August 9, 2013, 4:25 PM EDT) -- The U.S. International Trade Commission voted Friday to continue its investigation into cheap imports of steel threaded rod from India and Thailand, saying the low-cost shipments may have harmed American competitors.

The ITC's unanimous vote that there is a “reasonable indication that a U.S. industry is materially injured” by the imports moves the U.S. one step closer to imposing dumping duties on both countries and countervailing duties on India — which also stands accused of subsidizing its steelmakers.
