Angry Client Letter Doesn't Bar Malpractice Coverage

Law360, New York (August 9, 2013, 5:15 PM EDT) -- An Illinois appeals court Wednesday ordered the Illinois State Bar Association Mutual Insurance Co. to cover a legal malpractice suit, rejecting arguments that an attorney lost coverage by not disclosing a disgruntled client's scathing letter in his application for a policy.

The appeals court upheld a decision awarding insurance coverage, but not attorneys' fees, to Arthur S. Gold for a pending malpractice lawsuit brought by William Messner.
