GAO Launches Probe Of Planned Parenthood Funds

Law360, Los Angeles (August 9, 2013, 9:32 PM EDT) -- In response to a February request from a group of anti-abortion legislators, the Government Accountability Office has begun investigating how Planned Parenthood Federation of America and other organizations offering family planning services spend federal funds, according to reports.

The GAO investigation was prompted by a Feb. 21 letter to United States Comptroller General and GAO Head Gene L. Dodaro, signed by more than 50 members of Congress, that asked the agency to assemble up-to-date information on public funding of Planned Parenthood and certain other organizations.
