GOP Sen. Calls For Health Exchange Delay If Security Falters

Law360, New York (August 12, 2013, 7:47 PM EDT) -- Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., called Monday for the Obama administration to delay its fast-approaching rollout of health insurance exchanges until auditors can guarantee the security of an unproven “data hub” that will be crucial to doling out subsidies for consumers.

In a letter to Marilyn Tavenner, administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the Kentucky senator cited a new inspector general’s report stating that security authorization for the hub isn’t expected to come through until the day before exchanges debut on Oct. 1....
