DuPont To Pay $72M In Paint Antitrust MDL Settlement

Law360, Los Angeles (August 12, 2013, 9:39 PM EDT) -- DuPont Co. will pay $72 million to settle an antitrust class action accusing the chemical giant of conspiring to fix the price of a paint component, according to a Monday filing in Maryland court.

Plaintiffs' attorneys asked a Maryland federal judge for preliminary approval of the settlement between DuPont and a group of paint companies. The parties announced July 26 that they had struck a deal but didn't detail the terms until Monday.
