Calif. High Court Refuses To Halt Gay Marriages

Law360, Los Angeles (August 14, 2013, 10:02 PM EDT) -- The California Supreme Court on Wednesday rejected a bid by Proposition 8 supporters to halt same-sex marriages in the state, effectively putting the issue to rest.

In a single-page en banc order, the high court denied a petition for writ of mandate filed by attorneys for Protect Marriage, which contended the U.S. Supreme Court's June decision against Proposition 8 was based on a technicality. The order provided no details on the court's rationale.
