Liberty Combats Grocery Chain Over Data Breach Coverage

Law360, New York (August 15, 2013, 3:16 PM EDT) -- Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. took Schnuck Markets Inc. to court Wednesday to fight the grocery chain's demand that the excess insurer cover seven putative class actions and other claims stemming from a data breach that affected 2.4 million customers.

In its complaint, Liberty asks a Missouri federal court to hold that there is no coverage for the proposed class actions, a small claims suit in Illinois, as well as written demands for losses suffered by Think Mutual Bank, First Data Merchant Services Corp., Stillman Bank, Security...
