US Says $2.1M False Claims Settlement Held Up By Relator

Law360, New York (August 16, 2013, 2:18 PM EDT) -- The U.S. government told a Missouri federal court Thursday that a former employee of Sanborn Map Co. Inc. who brought a False Claims Act complaint against his former employer has reneged on his commitment to sign a $2.1 million settlement agreement, urging the court to enforce the deal.

James Peterson, the relator for the U.S., brought the complaint against Sanborn in 2011, alleging that the company had violated the FCA by using unapproved subcontractors for digital mapping work performed for the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers....
