Detroit's Ex-Mayor Allowed To Give New Evidence On Appeal

Law360, New York (August 15, 2013, 6:42 PM EDT) -- Former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick can present a new piece of evidence to the court as part of his appeal but he can't be released on bail as he awaits sentencing for fraud and racketeering, the Sixth Circuit said late Wednesday.

Kilpatrick's supplemental brief "contains additional details and an updated status of a knee injury that he raised in support of his motion for release," according to the court order. The convicted politician hurt his knee while exiting a corrections vehicle this year and got surgery...
