Marvell Disks Don't Infringe Lake Cherokee Patents, Jury Says

Law360, Los Angeles (August 16, 2013, 3:55 PM EDT) -- A Texas federal jury on Friday found that electronics company Marvell Semiconductor Inc. did not infringe two Lake Cherokee Hard Drive Technologies LLC patents covering hard-disk components. 

The jury put to rest nearly three years of litigation Friday, finding Marvell hadn't infringed Cherokee's U.S. Patent Numbers 5,844,738 and 5,978,162, which cover a system for reducing flaws and distortion in data pulled from magnetic storage disks.

Lake Cherokee's attorney, Greg Dovel, of Dovel & Luner LLP, said the jury's decision hinged on its finding that Marvell didn't sell the accused products in the U.S....
