Whole Foods, Apartment Tower Clear Philly Planning Board

Law360, Philadelphia (August 20, 2013, 6:20 PM EDT) -- The Philadelphia City Planning Commission on Tuesday voted to recommend exceptions for two major downtown projects — a residential tower and a flagship Whole Foods store with residential units — paving the way for approval by the city’s Zoning Board of Adjustment.

The 278-unit residential building on Market Street and the 63,000 square-foot grocery store project with 293 residential units both need special exemptions to be built because they feature above-ground parking that is discouraged by the city’s new zoning code.
