New York Pops Top On 'State Of Health' Benefits Exchange

Law360, New York (August 20, 2013, 2:25 PM EDT) -- New York state switched on its federally mandated health insurance exchange on Tuesday, launching an "online marketplace" called NY State of Health and listing 16 health and 10 dental plans state residents will be able to choose from when enrollment begins in October.

The New York State Department of Health made the announcement nearly 18 months after Gov. Andrew Cuomo vowed to create the exchange via executive order after state Republicans refused to fund it during budget talks during the spring of 2012.
