Chicago Hospital Sued Over Ruined Sperm Samples

Law360, Chicago (August 21, 2013, 1:40 PM EDT) -- Northwestern Memorial Hospital was hit with 40 lawsuits Tuesday by men claiming the Chicago hospital ruined their frozen sperm samples, which were being saved because the men were at high risk for infertility.

The negligence suits — filed separately for each of the alleged victims in Illinois state court — contend that a cryopreservation chamber storing semen and testicular tissue at the hospital failed in April 2012, destroying the plaintiffs’ samples, according to a statement from Corboy & Demetrio PC, the law firm representing the plaintiffs....
