Chinese Official Urges IBM, GE To Cop To Antitrust Violations

Law360, New York (August 21, 2013, 7:54 PM EDT) -- A Chinese antitrust official reportedly recently pushed IBM Corp., General Electric Co. and more than two dozen other international companies to cop to antitrust violations in the country — without seeking outside counsel.

Xu Xinyu, a division chief at the National Development and Reform Commission, told in-house counsel from roughly 30 firms that they should provide so-called self-criticisms to admit to any violations of China's Anti-Monopoly Law during a meeting from July 24-25, Reuters reported Wednesday, citing unnamed sources who attended the meeting.
