Judge Could Put Brakes On Iberdrola Deal

Law360, New York (February 11, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- The proposed takeover bid of Energy East Corp. by Spanish energy giant Iberdrola SA may be put on hold as a New York judge considers whether regulatory review of the deal should be suspended in light of new information that could potentially impact the merger.

On Monday, Dow Jones reported that a New York judge is expected to decide early this week whether review of the deal should be temporarily frozen in light of a new wrinkle in the transaction.
