Bribery Trial Of Ex-New Orleans Mayor Nagin Put Off

Law360, New York (August 23, 2013, 7:22 PM EDT) -- A federal judge on Thursday delayed by three weeks the start of the bribery trial of former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin, granting a defense request for more time to review evidence in the case.

U.S. District Judge Helen G. Berrigan rescheduled Nagin’s trial to start Oct. 28. Trial had been slated to start on Oct. 7 against the ex-mayor, who is accused of awarding city contracts to businesses in return for more than $200,000 in bribes and gifts.
