Fed. Circ. Lets Apple, Samsung Keep Financial Data Secret

Law360, New York (August 23, 2013, 4:12 PM EDT) -- The Federal Circuit ruled Friday that Apple Inc. and Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. need not publicly disclose financial documents that the judge ordered unsealed in their smartphone patent trial, rejecting arguments by reporter groups that the data is in the public interest.

The appeals court reversed two decisions from last year by U.S. District Judge Lucy Koh, who denied motions to seal documents the two companies filed in the closely watched smartphone patent trial. Her orders were stayed pending appeal, so the information was not made...
