Doctor Joins Evidence Fight In SAC Insider Trading Case

Law360, New York (August 23, 2013, 6:28 PM EDT) -- A New York federal judge ruled Friday that a doctor who allegedly provided insider tips to former SAC Capital Advisors LP portfolio manager Mathew Martoma can intervene in a fight to keep potential evidence from Martoma’s lawyers.

U.S. District Judge Paul Gardephe said Sidney Gilman, then a University of Michigan professor, can enter the case to try to keep documents he claims are private from Martoma’s defense team. The defense has made a motion to compel the production of the possible evidence.
