T-Mobile Says AT&T Unit Stole Its 'Famous' Color

Law360, New York (August 26, 2013, 1:35 PM EDT) -- T-Mobile US Inc. hit a subsidiary of AT&T Inc. with a trademark infringement suit in Texas federal court Friday, accusing the company of trying to replicate its color scheme in an effort to confuse customers.

T-Mobile claims Aio Wireless LLC was infused with its distinctive magenta color scheme by AT&T earlier this year. Aio is AT&T's branch of prepaid phone service and T-Mobile claims the company set up Aio shortly after T-Mobile announced it would be moving away from the industry standard of requiring contracts for mobile phone service.
