'Gay Conversion' Therapists Call NJ Law Religiously Biased

Law360, New York (August 26, 2013, 9:27 PM EDT) -- Two New Jersey therapists sued the state in federal court Friday to challenge the constitutionality of newly passed legislation that bans the treatment of minors with “conversion therapy” intended to change their sexual orientation, saying the ban amounts to religious discrimination.

Tara King, a licensed counselor, and Ronald Newman, a licensed psychologist, filed suit against Gov. Chris Christie on behalf of themselves and their patients, along with the National Association for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality and the American Association of Christian Counselors.
