Amazon Backs Off Price Policy Amid German Pressure

Law360, New York (August 27, 2013, 2:13 PM EDT) -- Amazon.com Inc. has agreed to stop enforcing a requirement that outside vendors who use the site's Marketplace platform offer their lowest prices through the electronic retail giant amid a probe into whether the requirement is anti-competitive, Germany's antitrust watchdog said Tuesday.

The German Federal Cartel Office said Amazon has promised to stop enforcing its "price parity" requirement and had changed the terms for some of its vendors accordingly.
